Low psi steam generators
The most common compared steam generators are the low psi models. These are the ones people find that are very cheap. They are advertised all over Amazon, home page of Google and everywhere most people search. These are the models with the low pressure relief valves. They are much louder than the high psi and atmospheric steam generators. They are loud because the relief valves let out much more condensate than the high pressure valves.
Low psi models models are easy for most people to sell because most people have 1/2 inch pipes and it is easy to sell to them. If you ever look close at them, you will see that they are constantly dripping water out of the steam head. You can see a huge cloud come out directly out of the steam head. When a steam cloud comes out of an atmospheric or a 20 psi model, the steam is so hot, so dry that you don't see it blow directly until it reacts with the air. Also with low psi models, depending on the killowatt size, they can let out up to double the water to make enough steam to heat up the room. As far as the 3 smallest residential models (6kw, 7.5kw, 9kw), the lowest psi models can put out 2.5 gallons of water while the generator with the driest steam only uses about 1.5 gallons of water. The less water it uses, the less condensate and the longer you feel the steam cloud. The more water, the less steam it makes and the more heavy water droplets come out and that is what can cause the heat trap problem and high fluctuations in temperature. It is hard to stay in the 110 to 114 degree comfort zone when I am using a low psi steam generator.
