Steam room LIGHTING problems
Warning to those with 8 foot and over ceilings
Most steam room led lights are about the same brightness as a night light. Most of the led lights that steam generator companies offer are these tiny 2 inch waterproof ceiling lights that are about 25 watts. When the steam is thick and especially with ceilings 8 foot or over.
Most steam room lights are low lumen and very low Kelvin temperatures. I can barely see the color hues on most led lights. If I want to see blue or red, I want a very pure, strong hue, not just a mild dim light. The highest quality led lights for a 2 inch led light starts in the mid 200 lumens and can go up to 2000 lumens. For those that want a very powerful led light with strong lumens and higher Kelvin temperatures, you might want to go with a 4 inch led light. There is one that goes up to 5000 lumens.
Make sure if you are getting a led light that it can withstand high temperatures. Most shower led lights cannot withstand temperatures above 104 degrees. If you are getting a single tank generator that puts out a fast burn steam and the ceiling gets super hot, you might want a led light that can withstand hotter temperatures.
Note: you must get a transformer for any of the high powered led lights. Most steam generators have them built in, some don’t.
Note: most led lights for steam rooms if they are not high end do not have high beam angles. They largest beam angle I've found is 65°. You want to eliminate glare.
