Thermasol vs SteamSpa
The pros and cons of each
Steamspa and Thermasol steam generators are very similar in the way they make steam with their dual tanks but the steam quality is very different between the brands.

Both brands are CSA certified which is the first thing I look at when comparing any steam generator.

I will say that the smart home technology on Thermasol is better than any other controller on the market. But as far as steam coming out, the steam on each has its on signature. With one, the steam is wetter. The other is dryer. I couldn't figure it out until I talked to a steam engineer. With 20psi steam there is less condensate and the steam cloud will last longer in the air and won't create as much of a steam trap and stick to the walls as much. The other brand has less condensate. It does not work around 15psi like the other one. With the Steamspa, all their models require 3/4 inch pipes. Most people have 1/2 inch and their competitor has an easier time if someone doesn't have to switch out their pipes.

Thermasol has been around since the 1950s and Steamspa since 1997. A lot of companies have copied the technology of Thermasol and personally I don't think that is cool. Just thinking about it, I think Steamspa or any of the dual tank brands that have copied Thermasol should pay them a percentage of their profits for improving on their technology. I would be upset too if I came out with the dual tank model and then someone copied it.

As far as the steam quality, the 20 psi pressure relief valve really makes a difference in the dryness of the steam. Steamspa is the only generator that competes with the quality of a Steamcore steam generator only because of its pis and 3/4 inch pipes.  I don't have a problem with the lower psi dual tank models (15psi) as long as the ceiling heights are not too high and the killowatt size is not to big.

I do have a problem when the steam is too wet and creates a steam trap at the ceiling and there is too much water hammer.
Also, the Thermasol doesn't need a dual cold water flush. It has a pressurized flushing system. Most steam generators have a gravity cleaning flush.

As far as returns, Steamspa is known for letting people return wrong sizes if you bought the wrong size. They don't charge a restocking fee.

As far are discounts on returns, I have access to returns and get them at much cheaper prices. I always recommend buying these as long as no water has been put through the generator or the generator has been used and sent back to the manufacturer and it is a certified used model. These are much cheaper than buying one new. These are not advertised. If you call us we will let you know if we have your size from one of the returns.

Sound: many people complain about sound and many are too loud. The Steamspa uses a 3/4 inch pipe so it is much quieter. Also, with its psi, it creates less water hammer and condensate. But, if you like all the smart home features and programability, the Thermasol wins.

Note: Steamspa will NOT work with 1/2 inch pipes. Make sure you have 3/4 inch pipes if you want the Steamspa.

Also, Steamspa steam is different than Steamcore even though they both are ranked similar in the top tier.
Steamspa even though at a high psi and with 3/4 inch pipes is the driest of all the pressurized models, it has a hotter feel due to the steam density it puts out. The Steamcore is more uniform in its steam. It remains almost at the same temperature the entire steam session based on your ceiling height. It is dryer and is slightly less hot due to less condensate in the steam. If using a fan with a Steamcore and your feet and legs are getting the same vasodilation as your upper body, there is less cardiac drift and it allows people to have a longer session without raising their heart rate too quick.

I always prefer a constant drier steam. Some people like it less hot but want full body steam therapy. Some people don't care about heating up their lower body and just prefer to sit on a bench and heat their upper body. If you use a fan and the steam is too wet and you are heating up your whole body evenly, it is hard to stay in the steam room for a full 30 minute session without having to take a few showers. Wet steam and full body steam therapy makes my heart rate go up way to quick and I prefer to stay in sometimes without leaving the steam room every 5 minutes to cool my body down in the shower.

COMPARE THERMASOL TO STEAM SPA:

Steamspa and Thermasol are very similar and it is causing confusion as the specs look almost identical.
Steamspa is about 1/2 the price of Thermasol and I had to buy both brands and turn them on side by side and take them apart to find out the real differences they really couldn't answer, or choose not to.

Note: Steamspa has been around since 1997 while Thermasol, the original steam generator company, has been around since the 1950s.

Thermasol is way more expensive and this is due to several features that SteamSpa doesn't have. Also, the lifetime warranty and in home service is something that SteamSpa doesn't have. If the lifetime warranty is important then Thermasol wins. They both have instant start up times with their dual tanks and are the only 2 brands on the market I've found that have this 60 second start.

Another difference in these 2 brands is that SteamSpa has a gravity cleaning flush while Thermasol has a pressurized flush.

SteamSpa will also let people return their generator for a different size if it was too powerful or not powerful enough. Many people buy generators that are too heat intense or don't have enough fluence.

Note: I have access to Steamspa generators that were returned from people buying online that didn't get the right size generator. Call me to see which models are available at the manufacturer.

The SteamSpa generator was slightly more noisy than Thermasol but only by a slim margin. The Thermasol steam doesn't have that pop sound when it comes out. Steamspa did take about 7 seconds longer than the 60 seconds that Thermasol takes.

NOTE: THERMASOL WORKS ON EVERYONES DRAIN LINE. STEAMSPA STEAM GENERATORS ONLY WORK ON CERTAIN PEOPLES DRAINS. LET ME KNOW WHAT TYPE OF DRAIN YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE WILL WORK IN YOUR HOME.

If a Steamspa generator won't work with your drain type it will not work right and have to be returned. About 20% of the people who buy this brand end up having to return it when it doesn't match their drain. The main way the Steamspa works is nearly identical to Thermasol but the best way to compare them would be that Thermasol is more commercially built and Steamspa more residential. If used in a spa or high traffic gym, I would use the Thermasol hands down. The gauge of components are much higher. It is more industrial built but for home use, when using it once or twice a day, commercial grade components really are just over kill.

The Thermasol steam generator makes the vapor (cluster size) much finer especially with their models that are rated up to 1150 square feet. At 100% humidity, at that exact point on my humidity meter, the Thermasol steam feels much lighter and dryer. The SteamSpa steam feel heavier but not as heavy as some other brands I tested. The higher the kW of the generator, the more fluence of the steam until there are 2 steam heads that split it up. On the models that are rated for 84 square feet, such as the smaller 9kw and under models, the steam differences in the 2 brands were slim.

It is very hard to pick out a steam generator when you haven't experienced each brand and the type of steam it gives.
